I say both. Yes a lot of invective thrown our president's way is a direct result of those who cannot except the fact that we have a black man as president. Black folks have a lot of experience at picking out who is with us or against us. Unless you are black you would have no earthly idea what it is I'm talking about. I won't get into examples but some of you reading this feel me 100%.
Now back to Brother Carter. He did nothing more than tell the absolute truth. When you come and call the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES a liar, you are disrespecting the office and at no time in the past has something like that happened. The protests likening him to a monkey or suggesting "he go back to Kenya" are all obvious and overt examples of racism. You can come to no other conclusion.
With that, if we fight this in a wrongheaded fashion we will play right into their hands and that is get our minds off of health care and financial reform. At this point it's whatever it takes to keep this great president from succeeding in trying to do the right thing.
I view it this way, whether you agree with this president or not, you cannot disrespect the man or his office.
Kudos to Jimmy Carter, but lets be careful as this could give these people the fuel to sustain their fire.
I do agree that ex-President Carter is on point. One thing about him is that he is not afraid to speak the truth (i.e. telling Israel they are an apartheid state). More than 50% of the criticism against President Obama, I believe, is based on race. There are a lot of people who, like you said, have not accepted that fact that a Black man is leading the U.S. They will never admit it, but he has had a calming effect on the world stage. You can see it, people are starting to stand down.
In addition, the media will continue to hype up this type of rhetoric to keep our minds off of the real issue, namely ECONOMICS! If we as Americans of African descent don't control our "economic lifeline", it really doesn't matter that we have a President with a fade!

President Carter is definitely on point, as well as you, Larry "A". President Obama is not an ignorant man byfar, it is evident in the way he moves. I sometimes have to think VERY hard when following his tactics-e.g. inviting a disrespectful arrogant racist police officer to sit on the White house lawn. Speaking as if the disrespectful, arrogant racist senator just "made a mistake". He clearly has a plan.... I hope it is victorious.
Secondly...We have removed the chains on our legs and replaced them with credit shakles! Economics is a huge problem among our race. I urge anyone interested in making a difference regarding our economic state to go to 10percentisenough.org and take a look at what is unfolding. We need a change.
